Iowa City man dies in motorcycle crash

An Iowa City man died Thursday in a motorcycle crash just outside Lone Tree, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.

Officials pronounced Patrick L. Moore, Jr., 66, dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred around 11:45 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 22 and White Oak Avenue, according to the report.

Moore was driving eastbound on Highway 22 on a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he attempted to pass another vehicle and lost control. His motorcycle left the roadway, entered a ditch to the north and struck a fence. The impact threw Moore from the vehicle, the report says.

An ambulance transported Moore to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, according to the report.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.
