Cancer research in need of much more funding

IOW

As 28-year-old taking on my fourth cancer, I’ve gained 11 years because of innovations in cancer research at the National Cancer Institute, the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

With more than 13.7 million cancer survivors alive today like me, there’s no doubt these breakthroughs are saving lives and reducing suffering. But over the past several years, federal investment for cancer research has stagnated, hindering our most promising researchers from achieving their potential for innovation.

This stagnation threatens to erode our past progress and impede future medical breakthroughs. With 1,600 people dying from cancer each day, the time to rejuvenate this funding is now. Let’s work together to save more lives.
